Dear Supporters Every day, individuals in our Christian community face the devastating effects of abuse. Behind closed doors, lives are shattered, dreams are stolen, and the scars of trauma run deep. But together, we have the power to make a difference. At CARA, Inc. (Christians Against Relationship Abuse) we stand as a beacon of hope for those impacted by the abuse. Through programs and services, we can provide essential support, resources, and advocacy to survivors on their journey toward healing and empowerment. Today, I reach out to you with a heartfelt plea: join us in our mission to support survivors of abuse. Whether its $5 or $5,000 your generous donation can make a world of difference in the lives of those who need it most. Here's how your contribution can help: Emergency Assistance: Your donation can provide immediate relief to survivors in crisis, offering them fare for transportation to a safe haven, emergency shelter resources and essential supplies to escape abusive situations. Counseling and Therapy: Your support enables us to offer trauma-informed counseling and therapy sessions with licensed professionals, helping survivors heal from the emotional and psychological wounds of abuse. Legal Advocacy: With your help, we can provide survivors direction to legal support and advocacy services, ensuring that they have the resources and representation needed to seek justice and protect their rights. Education and Prevention: Your donation enables us to educate our community about the signs of abuse, prevention strategies, and available resources, empowering individuals to recognize and respond to abuse effectively. Empowerment Programs: Your contribution funds empowerment programs and workshops that equip survivors with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to rebuild their lives and thrive beyond the trauma of abuse. Every dollar you donate brings us one step closer to creating a safer, more compassionate community for survivors of abuse. Your support sends a powerful message of solidarity and compassion to those who have suffered in silence. Please consider making a donation today and standing with us in support of survivors of abuse. Your generosity has the power to transform lives and create a world where every individual can live free from fear and violence. Together, we can be the voice for the voiceless, the hand to hold in times of darkness, and the beacon of hope that guides survivors toward a brighter future. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and commitment to making a difference. With gratitude, Mrs. Gwendolyn Randall-Pinkston, Advocacy Chairperson Email: grandall@christianabuse.org

Help Resources

SAFE HAVENS

Safe havens or shelters for abused individuals, regardless of gender, provide temporary refuge, support, and resources for those fleeing abusive situations. Here are some options:

Domestic Violence Shelters:

Many domestic violence shelters provide safe accommodation, counseling, legal advocacy, and support services for individuals fleeing abusive relationships. These shelters often have confidential locations to ensure the safety of residents.

National Domestic Violence Hotline (USA):

The National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-SAFE or 1-800-799-7233) can connect individuals with local shelters and resources based on their location and specific needs.

Local Community Resources:

Contact local law enforcement, social service agencies, or domestic violence advocacy organizations for information about shelters and support services available in your area. They can provide referrals and assistance in accessing safe havens.

Men's Shelters:

While shelters for men experiencing abuse may be less common than those for women, some organizations offer specific services and support for male survivors. Contact local domestic violence agencies or organizations specializing in men's issues for information and assistance.

Online directories and databases, such as the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) or state-specific coalitions, may provide listings of shelters and resources available in your area.

Emergency Housing Assistance Programs:

Some government agencies and nonprofit organizations offer emergency housing assistance programs for individuals experiencing homelessness or fleeing abusive situations. Contact local housing authorities or homeless services agencies for information about available resources.

Hotlines and Crisis Services:

Hotlines and crisis services, such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline or local crisis helplines, can provide immediate support, safety planning, and referrals to shelters and resources for individuals in crisis.

When seeking a safe haven, prioritize your safety and well-being. Reach out to trusted individuals or professionals for support, and consider creating a safety plan to prepare for leaving an abusive situation. Remember that you are not alone, and help is available.
